looks like we were at UK at the same time (have we had this
conversation before anyway?). I started in '72 and left in '75.
Lived in Holmes Hall (4th floor "the zoo"). I attended school at U of
L (puck, barf) from '76-'78.
I went to many a UK football and basketball game at sold Stoll Field
and Memorial Coliseum. my parents went to UK so as a kid I was taken
to many games there, and actually saw probably more football than
basketball games simply because it was easier to get tickets.
I would differ on the severity of the basketball scandal under
Sutton. that was very real and deserved. but I think Sutton got the
rap pinned on him when much of it started and was propogated by Joe B
Hall. Hall, IMHO, is a dickhead and was a coach on the same level as
Tubby Smith. I hate it when he pops up at UK hoops broadcasts-- he
should be run out of town.
I would cast this current UK football team on the same level as
Curci's '70s teams. Strong but not the best we've had. Bryant's
teams, so I've been told, were the best we've had. If he'd only have
stayed, think of the tradition we would have had at both BBall and
football.
